I played horn in the early days. At one point, I had an instructor who had given me a grade 6 piece to practice for the next lesson. Naturally, more interested in the finer points of life at the time- no practice. I sat down, and ripped through it without missing a note. She then asked me to put the horn back in the case and close it. "Next week make it sound good," she said. It took almost 10 years and a change of instruments to finally figure out what she meant. It doesn't matter the instrument, what comes out should come from within.
